This mini-symposium provides an opportunity to hear recent advances in the field of computational condensed matter physics with topics ranging from large-scale computational developments, first-principles methodologies within and beyond density functional theory, excitons, plasmonics, light-matter-interaction, strongly correlated systems, etc. Materials of interest include but are not limited to low-dimensional materials including 2D nanostructures and their derivatives.

The symposium will take place over two half-days. 5 keynotes lectures will be delivered by leaders in the field of computational and theoretical condensed matter physics. In addition, 12 invited lectures covering a broad array of relevant search areas will be identified among various universities, with emphasis on early career researchers and their accomplishments. Finally, all participants (but especially graduate students) are encouraged to present a poster during the evening session at the end of the first day.

This workshop is sponsored by the Francqui Foundation, in the context of Prof. V. Meunier’s International Francqui Chair Professorship. The registration (including program, coffee breaks and dinner) is free of charge but is required as the number of seats is limited.
