Your missions

As part of a portfolio of projects FEDER: “Algae Factory” which includes 5 research laboratories from three different universities: ULiège, UMons and UNamur, the project “VALOALGUE” aims at the "Preparation of photosynthetic biohybrid materials by encapsulation of microalgae for the production of metabolites of high added value”.

The technical tasks: The organization and participation in scientific meetings between the various partners of the project and the coordination and the drafting of scientific reports;

The specific scientific tasks :

1) The elaboration and development of a new series of chemical formulations: determination of cell density, porosity, chemical composition, chemical additives of photosynthetic biohybrid materials; their physicochemical characterization;

2) The study of photosynthetic activity, the viability of the encapsulated cells and the diffusion of metabolites out of the microcapsule;

3) The scaling up of the production of photosynthetic biohybrid materials with industrial raw materials and the recycling of used biomass as a precursor or additive in the preparation of photosynthetic hybrid materials;

Your profile

Holder of a doctorate or equivalent in the related field with an excellent experience in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, biomaterials, biohybrids and a good knowledge on the culture of biological cell or in biology, biotechnology and medicine with a good experience in the field of encapsulation of cells.

Vos missions

Dans le cadre d’un portefeuille de projets FEDER: “Algae Factory” qui regroupe 5 laboratoires de recherche de trois universités différentes: ULiège, UMons et UNamur, le projet VALOALGUE vise au “Développement de matériaux biohybrides photosynthétiques par encapsulation des microalgues pour la production de métabolites de haute valeur ajoutée ”.

Les tâches techniques : L’organisation et participation à des réunions scientifiques entre les différents partenaires du projet et la coordination et la rédaction des rapports d'activités et scientifiques;

Les tâches spécifiques scientifiques :

1) l'élaboration et le développement d'une nouvelle série de formulations chimiques: détermination de la densité cellulaire, de la porosité, de la composition chimique, des additifs chimiques des matériaux biohybrides photosynthétiques; leur caractérisation physicochimique;

2) l'étude de l'activité photosynthétique, de la viabilité des cellules encapsulées et de la diffusion de métabolites vers l’extérieur de la microcapsule;

3) le scaling up de production des matériaux biohybrides photosynthétiques avec les matières premières industrielles et le recyclage de la biomasse usagée comme précurseur ou additif dans la préparation des matériaux hybrides photosynthétiques;

Votre profil

Titulaire d’un doctorat ou niveau assimilé dans le domaine concerné avec une excellente expérience en chimie, génie chimique, science des matériaux, biomateriaux, biohybrides et une bonne connaissance en culture de cellules biologiques ou en biologie, médecine et pharmacie avec une bonne connaissance en encapsulation de cellules biologiques.
